The new temple of contemporary art: the Louis Vuitton Foundation

The new temple of contemporary art: the Louis Vuitton Foundation

Publish on Friday, 20 May 2016

Having been installed just over a year ago in its magnificent glass and steel ship in the Bois de Boulogne, the Louis Vuitton Foundation has become, along with the Pompidou Centre, an essential location in Paris for admirers of contemporary art. Within this place of elegance and light you can admire the permanent collections or discover the many surprises offered by the temporary exhibitions. The Foundation offers so much.

A timeless walk

When you travel to the end of Metro line 1, which you can access only a short distance from your Buddha-Bar Hotel Paris, and reach the fringes of the Bois du Boulogne, you’ll discover the amazing building designed by architect Frank Gehry to house the Louis Vuitton Foundation. With lightweight materials, gently curving shapes and daring perspectives, it is an astonishing feat of technical prowess, provoking fascination, admiration and surprise. Amidst what seems to be great glass sails billowed by the wind you will find various galleries and an auditorium, the designs of the interiors cleverly playing with light and angles. This year until August 29th, the Foundation is dedicating itself to the thriving contemporary art scene of China, featuring artists such as Yang Fudong and Cao Fei. No less than 11 artists present their finest works to immerse you in the heart of Chinese culture.

All the diversity of creativity

The Louis Vuitton Foundation is designed to be an authentic, innovative and vibrant space dedicated to all forms of contemporary art. On the site you will find a library, an auditorium offering a wonderfully eclectic programme of events, and a beautiful dining area with large windows and golden fish swimming overhead, where you can enjoy fabulous dishes created by a star chef. The Foundation also has a team of cultural mediators who offer micro-tours, and activities and workshops for children and adults, beginners and enthusiasts. A new way to experience culture and art ! Your stay will also be an adventure into fine cuisine, thanks to the new spring and summer menu of the Buddha-Bar Hotel Paris, where fresh and authentic flavours are in the spotlight!
